How Much Freezer Space Will I Need?

For orders of 1/8th of a beef or less (60 lbs or less), you should be able to use the space you have in your regular freezer, provided it is not full of other items. For orders greater than 1/8, you will need an extra freezer. Plan on approximately one cubic foot of freezer space for every 15-20 pounds of meat.

The interior of a milk crate is slightly more than a cubic foot. For example, For a 1/2 beef, you will need a 7 cu ft. freezer. It doesn't matter if it's a chest freezer or a stand-up freezer, you just want to make sure it's at least 7 cu ft.

Check out Lowe's or Home Depot, where you can pick up a freezer for about $200-$300.

Be sure to freeze your meat as soon as it arrives to keep it fresh, or refrigerate any portions you will use within two days.
